Radio Mirchi - It's Necessary

Does it feel like Video did kill the Radio star? It has been feeling
that way lately in New York City. For those without cars, and with
CD burners, big screens, and high-powered MP3 players - the radio
dial is usually a last resort for music. BUT - besides the fact
stations play the same 6 songs over and over again for hours, Radio
Waves are still be the best source of hearing new music and exclusive
mixes. This is especially true in big cities - with well-connected,
intuitive DJs - who, unfortunately, tend to spin their best sets
in at off-peak hours.
"Hey your girl's got a face for the radio."
Let's go to India.
In an industry where providers need that exclusive content. In a
country where films, actors, and music videos are the pulse of generations
young, old, and in between. In the face of pictures, gossip magazines,
and visual appeal - one particular radio station has been on the
rise. Catching waves with bubbles - Radio Mirchi, 98.3FM,
it's necessary.
"Oh the Drama - you need it"
In
2000, when the Government formally announced the auction of 108
FM frequencies across 40 cities, Entertainment Network (India) Limited
won the largest number of licenses. They became the sole radio presence
in 7 major cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Indore
and Ahmedabad - and have become the largest private FM Radio operator
in the country.
A track record of developing creative and innovative content and
programming formats has helped Radio Mirchi expand and retain its
audience and advertisers. For example, they exclusively released
the music for Hindi films such as 'Hum Tum', 'Salaam Namaste', 'Mangal
Pandey' where it enjoyed exclusive rights for FM broadcasting of
the music of these films for around two weeks
Future plans also include exploring opportunities to become FM
radio broadcasters or content providers in international markets
at an appropriate time, either directly or through strategic partnerships
or inorganic initiatives.
You might hear them soon on Satellite Radio or live on the Internet.
You might be exploring the Indian consumer market and consider the
advertising power of Radio Mirchi. Or you might be looking to hear
the top stars and musicians across India hold live interviews about
their careers and crafts. By whichever means - you might quickly
become very familiar with Radio Mirchi.
This has been a BrownSkinZ Production.
